Ottumwa Schools Mourns Loss of Student
The Ottumwa Community School District is deeply saddened by the passing of Charlotte Pilcher, a student who recently completed fifth grade at Eisenhower Elementary and was preparing to begin sixth grade at Liberty Intermediate School.
Charlotte was a valued member of the Ottumwa Schools community, and her loss is deeply felt by her classmates, teachers, staff, and all who knew her. Our hearts are with Charlotte’s family and loved ones during this incredibly
difficult time.
The district has put support services in place for students and staff who may be impacted by this loss. Counselors and other support personnel will be available to help members of our school community process their grief and provide assistance
as needed.
We recognize that students and families may experience grief in different ways and encourage anyone who needs support to reach out. Families may contact the Ottumwa Schools District Office at 641-684-6597 or email our Family Service Coordinator,
megan.logan@ottumwaschools.com, for assistance. Additional confidential support is also available through Your Life Iowa, which can be reached by phone, text, or chat at yourlifeiowa.org.
The Ottumwa Community School District extends its deepest sympathy
to Charlotte’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, and everyone who loved her. We will continue to support one another as our school community navigates this heartbreaking loss.
With Sympathy and Support,
Bradley McCloskey, Superintendent
